How to Spot a Fake Deal During Festive Sales
Inflated MRPs, fake strikethroughs, listing swaps — festive sales are full of deals that aren't deals. Here's how to check before you buy.

Every festive sale brings the same pattern: prices get slashed, and some of them were quietly raised first. We check prices every week for our comparison pages, and we've caught the tricks in the wild. Here's what to look for.
1. The inflated MRP
A '60% off' sticker means nothing if the MRP was raised last week. Compare the sale price against what the product actually sold for — not the printed MRP.
2. The fake strikethrough
'Was ₹19,999, now ₹9,999' — was it ever ₹19,999? If you haven't seen the product at that price in the last month, treat the strikethrough as marketing.
3. The listing swap
Sellers sometimes swap the product behind a listing while keeping the page. We've caught a 'Galaxy M15' listing selling a Galaxy M07, and a 'Rockerz 450' listing selling a Rockerz Plus 450 ANC. Always check the title matches the product in your cart.
4. The limited-time pressure
'Only 3 left' and 'ends tonight' are designed to skip your research. If the deal is real, it'll be there tomorrow — or at the next sale.
5. No price history
If you can't see what the product cost last week, you can't judge the deal. That's why every price on our pages is verified within 7 days and carries the date it was checked.
Our rule
A deal is only a deal if the price is verified. Compare before you buy — our comparison pages show dated, verified prices across Amazon and Flipkart.
